Design Competition 2012
The goal of the 2012 Eskom Energy Efficient Lighting Design Competition is to demonstrate that efficient lighting technologies, such as discharge, fluorescent and LED technologies, can be used in very contemporary and attractive luminaires and lighting design systems intended for residential lighting.
Prizes
CATEGORY A: Residential Luminaire Design (Students)
In Category A, full-time students at all tertiary institutions (universities, colleges, design centres and schools of design) in South Africa are invited to submit a luminaire design using an energy efficient light source, suitable for use in the home.

CATEGORY B: Innovative Energy Efficient Lighting Design (Professional)
In Category B, professional graphic designers, electrical engineers, product designers, researchers and ayone with a passion for design are invited to submit innovative energy efficient designs, systems or products, suitable for residential application. The submission should be innovative, original and unique, in other words, it should not have been implemented before.

SPECIAL AWARDS: Most Promising Young Designer (Learners)
In this special award, promising young designers from secondary schools are invited to submit innovative energy efficient designs, systems or products, suitable for residential application. The submission should be innovative, original and unique, in other words, it should not have been implemented before.
